Please welcome bestselling author Susan Andersen.
Susan welcome to The Reading Frenzy
Thank you—I’m happy to be here.

Tell us a little about Some Like It Hot.
Some Like It Hot is about. . .
A woman with a secret. A man who excels at ferreting them out.
Harper’s a rolling stone. Max is firmly planted in Razor Bay. Together they share too much chemistry to contain, but both try valiantly to do so anyhow.
Bet you can guess how well that works out.
Are your heroes more the leave the toilet lid up or down kind of men?
Oh, the leave them up kind, definitely. My heroes are guys—and  I’ve never yet met a member of that species who feels compelled to put it down. According to my son, in fact, back when he still lived with us, I should have been putting it up for him and his dad because I was the minority gender in the house.
Yeah, riiight. That was gonna happen

You’re the recipient of many awards.
Is there still that elusive one you’re coveting?
I’ve never gotten my hot little hands on a RITA. Maybe some day.

Susan you’ve written both total stand-alones and connected books.
Is there one over the other you enjoy writing more?
I enjoy writing both, but there’s something about the series. Because you work with the characters for more than one book, by the time you get to the last story in the series you really know who your current hero and/or heroine is. That’s always a bonus.

What was it like writing your own love story in the book Fall in Love Like A Romance Writer?
It was fun. I’ve been married a long time and going back and revisiting the beginnings of my husband’s and my relationship was a kick.

When you’re in the “writing zone” what suffers the most?
Other than my bleeding ears? That would probably be my office. It tends to look like a bomb went off in it.

What would be the highest compliment a reader could give you?
There are actually two. One is from the women (and occasional man) who are going through a horrendous experience. Maybe their husband is dying or they’re going through chemo for breast cancer. Yet they take the time to let me know how much my book meant to them during this period and how it helped to get them through it.
The second is being told that I wrecked a reader’s night’s sleep because they simply could not put my book down and turn off the light. I LOVE that because I’ve been there myself.

You’ve just sent in the final edits and you’re heading out to your dream vacation.
Where are you going?
I think I’d go to Italy—if only I could get there without having to fly for 12 hours.

Susan will you be attending any signings or events in the near future for fans to meet you in person?
Unfortunately, I don’t have any planned at this time. I mostly do drive by signings, where I just drop into a store and sign the stock. And I missed RWA’s national conference this year, but I will be in San Antonio next summer.

Thanks Susan for answering these questions. Good luck with Some Like it Hot!!
