Overview

See the world of Fifty Shades of Grey anew through the eyes of Christian Grey.

In Christian's own words, and through his thoughts, reflections, and dreams, E L James offers a fresh perspective on the love story that has enthralled millions of readers around the world.
Christian Grey exercises control in all things; his world is neat, disciplined, and utterly empty—until the day that Anastasia Steele falls into his office, in a tangle of shapely limbs and tumbling brown hair. He tries to forget her, but instead is swept up in a storm of emotion he cannot comprehend and cannot resist. Unlike any woman he has known before, shy, unworldly Ana seems to see right through him—past the business prodigy and the penthouse lifestyle to Christian’s cold, wounded heart.
Will being with Ana dispel the horrors of his childhood that haunt Christian every night? Or will his dark sexual desires, his compulsion to control, and the self-loathing that fills his soul drive this girl away and destroy the fragile hope she offers him?
This book is intended for mature audiences.

Welcome to my dark side – yeah I know I said many times that after dipping my toes in e-rom when it first came out of the brown paper wrapper a few years ago that I would NEVER read it again. Well never say never ;-).

Here's B&N Reads Jeff Somers advice for fans to say to nay-sayers.

I have immensely enjoyed E L James trilogy and now her newest novel in Christian Grey POV, Grey.
I think it's rather comical that editorial reviewers are tearing Grey to strips, here's a hint, she didn't write it for you; she doesn't and this particular editorial reviewer doesn't care what you think. She's never professed it to be or wants it to be literary fiction, she wrote this one after fans cajoled her into doing it. And this fan says you very much.
If you're looking for a fresh piece of the Christian and Anna story don't buy this book because it's a retelling of book one and the early part of book two. But if you're looking for answers as to why Mr. Grey made a certain comment or had a certain look either in the books or the movie then this is the book you've been waiting for.
I just hope and pray that Ms. James isn't done retelling because I already want to know what's lurking deep in Christian's mind for the rest of the series.
Enjoy my review!

My Review of Grey by  E L James

Be you a lover or hater of this series of books no one can deny the fact that they have sold multi-millions of copies and may be a direct result of getting millions of more readers into the book buying pool and other authors are sure to benefit from this including the ones who've just taken the plunge into publishing. So before you nay say think about that!
Now on to the review.

Christian Grey has through the use of control learned to be many things, an über-successful businessman/billionaire, a philanthropist, and at times a compassionate albeit autocratic employer. But thats only in his professional life, his personal life took a turn thats fifty shades darker than what he appears on the surface. Behind closed doors in a very private life he uses that control to be a dominate to his sexual partners. Its not a lifestyle for everyone but its the only one he can survive in. Then his world turns upside down when an innocent beauty literally falls into his office and the only thing he knows is that he must have her at any cost. Shes challenging and exasperating and he soon realizes he cant live without her. Hes hoping shes up for the challenge of a relationship with him and hoping against hope that he can handle the fallout if she isnt.

Grey is an intuitive retelling of the entire first book, Fifty Shades of Grey and the first part of book two, Fifty Shades Darker, only its told in the voice and POV of our damaged hero, Christian Grey. Readers will see how the love story unfolded from the fall through the door until the heartbreak of the breakup through Christian's eyes and perspective. The unique aspect is that it delves into the whys and the wherefores of what makes this complicated, enigmatic and perhaps a bit deranged man tick. It will take readers back to his childhood and let us know exactly what happened to him and what led him to become the entrepreneur and at times tyrant of today. Its eye opening for fans who always wished to enter the darkness that is Christian Grey and its inspiring for romance fans who have that innate need to know that at least in fiction we can fix our damaged heroes.
Ms. James I fell in love with this series and all your characters I hope you give fans more of Christians story and hoping there are many more new stories youll be telling in the future.

  2. Okay, so is this better written than the trilogy?

I don't usually read alternative POVs because it feels repetitive sometimes. However, this has me curious because the first books needed a LOT of direction and editing.

    1. You know Braine I NEVER read a book and look at editing only content because so many of the books I read are in manuscript or early arc pdf forms because I get them at least 4 months before publication. So I'm not the right person to ask about the editing. I really enjoyed the trilogy, if you weren't a fan of the trilogy you won't like this. It's a blow by blow retelling so there will repetitiveness.

I also agree that love or hate them they've so millions and it's not because it's a racy book but because there is one really good love story that keeps you coming back for more.
