Donna hi! Welcome back to the blog.
Congratulations on another successful series finale.
Wow I loved this series and it’s very bittersweet for me as a reader now that it’s over.
How do you as the author feel when a series is over?
By time I’m writing the last book of a series, I usually have another idea burning a hole in my brain. I’m finding that 3-4 books is really my happy place before some other idea is taking hold.

Do you feel the same way for every series end?
Yes. That damn muse never leaves me in peace for long.

Donna who in this series was the most obstinate when it came to behaving the way he/she was supposed to in the creative process?
This might seem really weird but for the most part, I don’t try and boss any of them around. I let them be them and and just roll with it.

You said something during our last conversation that really stuck with me so much that I knew I had to have you explain it further.
You said in reference to a new book idea “
It's killing my brain trying to bore its way out!”
Is this always the way it works or does your muse usually let you finish one series before she starts whispering in your ear?
The muse gives me very little peace. It’ll leave me alone for maybe two books tops. By time I’m writing book three, it’s nudging me. By book four, it’s near punching me daily.

Can you plant a bug in our ear about what’s coming next?
I’m not ready to divulge too much at this point because it’s still working itself out a bit. It will be an UF and as always, have some romance : ) Maybe a bit more romance than what I normally write.

Donna in your last series, Karma, the main star was in her 30s and in The Wilds series your star Dahlia is only 18 when the series begins.
Is the age of the characters in your series determined in your head before finger meets keyboard or can it change later on?
I usually know the protagonists age before I start. She is usually the loudest character in my head, which is probably why I write first person.

You are also creative in ways other than writing.
What’s your latest needle felting creation?
Actually, my most recent creation isn’t needle felting at all. I just bought a large slab of wood from someone who salvages wood from trees that have to be cut down because of disease and other problems. In my free time, I’ve been sanding it and finishing it. I’ve got legs on order and I’m making a live edge table. I’d give you a pic but it’s not finished yet!

Donna thanks so much for taking time to answer these questions.
Good luck with The Wilds series and to your new upcoming works.
Thank you!

My Review
The Magic
Donna Augustine

Donna Augustine’s 4th and finale in her urban fantasy The Wilds series satisfyingly solves the mysteries and answers the unanswered questions wrapping the series up fantastically. Her fast paced dialogue brilliantly tells the tale scene by vibrant scene and expertly captures the innocent and at times cluelessness of Dahlia’s youth along with her kick-butt never give-up attitude, plus her laugh out loud humor lightens the sometimes very dark, very intense storyline. Her co-stars were all amazing, the unbreakable bond she built between her stars and the OMG revelations rock the read!
This is a keeper!
Series must be read in order.

Dax, Dahlia (Dal) and their friends have just arrived back at the farm from the settlement called The Rock with fresh battle scars and still more questions than answers.
The war over the survival of the human race against the alien creatures known as Dark Walkers still rages and even with Dal and Dax’s magic being stronger than ever there are no guarantees of success. They need to keep their enemy in the dark while they fortify themselves and ready for battle, it’s why they’ve made a deal with the devil himself, aka the Dark Walker’s leader. They have no options but to fight to the finish in this winner take all war so they hope they have enough time, luck and power to defeat this terrible foe.

  2. I have the first book on audio, which I won from you. I really need to move it up my list. I've got several books that are jumping for me to listen to next. I really need to be able to listen more than I do, and I average a book every two days. Great interview, as always.

  4. Loved the first book and was happy to win it after reading your review. I bought the second book and whew, I look forward to getting to this one. I'm actually glad that the series is shorter even though it's so good that I might change my mind as I get down to the end.

I like that she's already working on her next UF series. Nice interview, ladies!
