Overview:
A humble laborer is caught in the tensions between Earth and Titan, the now-colonized moon of Saturn, in a standalone novel set in the universe of Titanborn (“Sci-fi noir at its finest!”—David Simpson, author of the Post-Human series).

Kale Drayton knows his place. As a Ringer born on Titan, he’s used to keeping his head down and his mouth shut—no matter how much the Earthers abuse him or his own kind berate him. So when he’s caught stealing from a wealthy merchant, he’s lucky to be sentenced to low-paying maintenance work on a gas-harvesting ship instead of life in a cell . . . or worse.

But when his mother is quarantined, Kale finds himself backed into a corner. To pay for her medicine, he needs money—the kind of money he’ll never make sweeping floors and cleaning ships. So when he receives a mysterious offer asking him to do a simple job in exchange for his mother’s treatment, Kale takes a chance once more. All he has to do is upload a program onto his employer’s ship and all of his problems will disappear.

What starts as a straightforward smuggling gig soon reveals its shattering repercussions. The people who hired Kale are more dangerous than he suspected—and he’s more important to them than he ever could have imagined.

My Review
Titanborn #2
From Ice to Ashes
Rhett Bruno

Rhett Bruno’s new release, From Ice to Ashes, is a kick-butt, non-stop sci-fi space odyssey set in our solar system on Saturn and her Moons. He features a world in civil strife told via a fluent and vividly descriptive narrative from the perspective of the native inhabitants cruelly suppressed by colonizing intruders. His unlikely, fantastically flawed hero and cast of downtrodden costars will captivate and keep readers on edge in this fast-paced plot driven sci-fi thriller. Although From Ice to Ashes shares a setting with his previous novel Titanborn it’s only loosely linked and stands well alone
Recap:
Centuries ago fearing total inhalation from a meteorite, earth sent a single ship into space to save the species which eventually landed on and colonized Titan, Saturn’s largest moon and called themselves Ringers.

Meanwhile-the survivors of earth rebuilt their world and sought new ones so that an apocalypse could never happen again and they eventually reunited with their Titanborn descendants. The reunion wasn’t so good for the Ringers who quickly contracted Earthborn diseases they had no immunity from and became the subordinate species. But the race is not dead yet and the Titanborn rising has begun.
After learning his mother is in isolation after contracting an Earthborn disease, Ringer Kale Drayton has no choice but to give up his job aboard a gas harvester ship and return home to see to her care. While job-hunting he receives a mysterious message telling him if he follows some simple instructions his mother will be cured and released from quarantine. Kale is afraid but he’s willing to do anything to save his mother.
