Overview:
At long last, the legendary New York Times best-selling author returns with a heartfelt novel of womanhood, a wild heart, and the healing power of love.

Run, run, as fast as you can!

When life throws her one setback too many, midwife and young widow Tess Hartsong takes off for Runaway Mountain. In this small town high in the Tennessee mountains, surrounded by nature, she hopes to outrun her heartbreak and find the solace she needs to heal.

But instead of peace and quiet, she encounters an enigmatic artist with a craving for solitude, a fairy-tale sprite with too many secrets, a helpless infant, a passel of curious teens, and a town suspicious of outsiders, especially one as headstrong as Tess. Just as headstrong is Ian North, a difficult, gifted man with a tortured soul - a man who makes Tess question everything.

In running away to this new life, Tess wonders - has she lost herself...or has she found her future?

My #Audible Review:

Dance Away With Me
Susan Elizabeth Phillips

SEP as Susan Elizabeth Phillips’ fans fondly refer to her as never ceases to amaze me with her incredibly inventive plots and her tortured soul characters and how she’s able to bring them together along with all their messy baggage, and Dance Away With Me is exactly that.  She brings these two sooooo different people together in a small Tennessee mountain town that’s full of quirky unconventional residents that would challenge the patience of a saint and just makes it all work out. And along the way she makes me belly laugh and reach for a box of tissues while her characters solve the world’s problems and I’m left ranting cursing and loving the antics of everyone of these unforgettable characters including and especially the tiny infant who she manages to give her own personality. She also manages to bring the breathtaking landscapes and seasons of Tennessee’s mountains to life for her audience and I swear I smelled the scent of pine and clean air during the novel. If you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t enjoyed Susan Elizabeth Phillips and you love the writings of Kristan Higgins or Jennifer Crusie you owe it to yourself to give SEP a try.
Narration:
The narration by Nicole Poole is fabulous. Her female and male voices are brilliant and she adds just the right emotions to every unforgettable scene. Her Tess is a masterpiece and the way she baby talks to Wren is so real it will touch every listener’s heart.
When midwife Tess Heartsong had enough of everyone telling her she should move on from her husband’s death she decided instead to move to the mountains of Tennessee and the small aptly named town of Runaway Mountain to be alone with her misery. Unfortunately fate had other ideas when Tess suddenly finds herself co-parenting an orphan with a larger-than-life brilliant enigmatic street artist who’s lost his muse, while living in a town full of people who constantly challenge her mentality.
Ian North has never met a more opinionated, insufferable woman than the widow Heartsong, he’s also never been more attracted to a woman in well forever. Now if he can just decide what to do about her and the baby that his deceased friend left them maybe he can find his way back to his art and out from under the spell of Tess Heartsong.
