GoodReads Blurb:
Fresh off my Voodoo-tastic vacation to New Orleans, I find myself presented with the first test of my newly discovered magic. There’s been a murder in the neighboring town of Pine Shoals and the victim has decided she’s not cut out for the spectral life and needs a gentle push into the Otherworld.

As it turns out, conjuring some magic and telling a ghost to ‘go towards the light’ isn’t quite good enough, and now the hysterical ghost is stuck in some kind of limbo land.

It’s up to me to solve her murder before the poor ghost goes insane—or, becomes demon food. Whichever happens first.
Reapers creepers.

Review:
After her New Orleans adventure where she learns that she has magic related to her ability to see and hear ghosts, Scarlet is settled back into her Beechwood Harbor community working at her flower shop and sharing a shorter long-distance relationship with Luca now that he's home-based in Seattle.

But, then we have a ghost whose death was anything but tranquil.  Here they go again...

I have a good time with these light-hearted paranormal cozy mysteries with their small town setting and dash of romance.  Scarlett is a great heroine and I enjoy that she's a florist for her day job.  Her detecting is made exciting by her three ghostly companions - hippie ghost Gwen, Victorian gentleman ghost, Hayward, and sarcastic cat ghost, Flapjack- and her understanding, but eager boyfriend-security expert, Lucas.

In the earlier books, Scarlett was so conflicted about many things that I felt she dwelled a lot, but with this one, it was right to the murder mystery and a little demonic dilemma Scarlett unintentionally caused.  Oh, and things might be heating up a bit with Scarlett and Lucas as she lets him in on more of her secrets and ponders about taking things deeper with their relationship.

I thought it was even more endearing that her crime-solving partner was generally Lucas, but Flapjack got some extra time to shine.  The mystery had me wondering whodunnit for a time, but I confess I was more taken up with Scarlett figuring things out in her own life.

With each installment, I eagerly reach for the next audio edition because I can anticipate the exceptional Amanda Ronconi narrating the stories and giving them that extra bit of pizzazz.  Her characters are distinct and her storytelling is so easy to sink into.  While I love all the voices she does, Flapjack's is hands-down my fav.

All in all, this is an easy-read, entertaining series that I can strongly recommend to those who enjoy paranormal cozy mysteries.

My thanks to Tantor Audio for the opportunity to listen to this book in exchange for an honest review.
