Overview

Nothing is more dangerous than falling in love. . . .
When Caleb Devereaux's younger sister is kidnapped, the scion of a powerful and wealthy family turns to an unlikely source for help: a beautiful and sensitive woman with a gift for finding answers others cannot. While Ramie can connect to victims and locate them by feeling their pain, her ability comes with a price. Every time she uses it, it costs her a piece of herself. Helping the infuriatingly attractive and impatient Caleb successfully find his sister nearly destroys her. Even though his sexual intensity draws her like a magnet, she needs to get as far away from him as she can.

Hi Maya, welcome to The Reading Frenzy.
I
ve heard a lot about your new series and the first novel is due out tomorrow October 7th.
Tell us about Keep Me Safe.
Keep Me Safe is a LONG awaited story for me. I’ve wanted to write this story and book 3 for SO long. I’ve had those two stories in my head for YEARS. But a concise peek (and I’m not very concise!) is that Ramie has psychic abilities, unique abilities, that enable her to track kidnapping victims by touching an object belonging to the victim. She makes a connection to them, but the downside is that she experiences every thing the victim does once she makes that connection. Everything. So it’s rather horrifying. She’s an empath who is only able to feel or detect the evil in people. Never the good. So her “gift” is more of a curse since she’s never able to feel the GOOD.

Caleb hunts her down when his sister is abducted and they’ve exhausted all leads. He knows he’s racing against the clock and when Ramie refuses because she’s at her breaking point, he “forces” her compliance by shoving his sister’s scarf into her hands and holding her hands around it. And promptly sends her to hell.

Horrified by what he’s done, he’s determined to make it up to her. But she disappears and no amount of searching on his part is able to unearth her. Until she contacts him a year later because she’s in terrible danger and doesn’t know who else to turn to.

And well, thus begins their journey :)

Which character in this novel gave you the most trouble?
Honestly none of them. My characters don’t tend to give me “trouble” because I follow their lead, not the other way around. I allow the story to unfold naturally and try to stay true to the characters and not work AGAINST who they are and what they are.

As I said above this is the first in a new series.
First how with the books be related?
The one common thread that will be found in all the books is that the heroines all have psychic abilities of some sort. Not the SAME ability, as I don’t want to tell the same story over and over. But that is the common thread.

Will they need to be read in order?
No, they absolutely will stand alone, though you will see secondary characters in early novels that go on to “star” in future books.

Maya you share the story of your daughters dog on your website and how to convince mom and dad she needed a dog wrote a two page proposal.
Do I detect an future author?
Unfortunately no :(

You also compared your Scotland vacation to National Lampoons European Vacation.
Can you share with my readers one funny/weird/frustrating event?
Gah! Just getting OUT of the airport in Glasgow was a ridiculously difficult task! I mean who puts MULTIPLE roundabouts IN AN AIRPORT??

Maya, I LOVE your website, its colorful, informative and easy to negotiate and  I especially love the bookmark side bar.
Did you have a hand in the design?
Yes, it was a very intensive undertaking involving a lot of input from me on my likes and dislikes, approving designs/ideas or vetoing them and starting over again. Not something I’d want to do again any time soon!

What book is on your nightstand right now?
Not a single one! ALTHOUGH the awesome Nalini Singh JUST emailed me her upcoming Guild Hunter book so you could say that book is in my “inbox” instead of my night stand ;)

Maya I love how you recognize your readers on your site, and say you love to dish books with people who love romance as much as you do.
How important to you is an HEA?
It’s ALL important. THE most important component of ANY book!

Would you write a novel without one?
NO!!

Maya, its been great learning a little more about you. I enjoy your novels and I know my romance addict readers do too.
Good luck with the new series and thanks for chatting with me today.
Are there events listed on your website?
Thanks so much! I’m thrilled you’ve enjoyed my books :) And yes I have a calendar of events that you can access by clicking on “book signings” on the front page in the purple tab on the left.

  6. I love that Maya will not right a book without a HEA, I will not read a book if I know it doesn't have one! haha I don't really have a favorite book but her Sweet series and her KGI series are both my favorite series so far. This new series is intriguing and I am excited to read it. Thanks for the post and the chance to win!
