Q&A
with Lisa Childs – Beauty and the
Bodyguard
1. What’s new in your Bachelor
Bodyguards series?
Answer: BEAUTY AND THE BODYGUARD is the newest
installment of the Bachelor Bodyguards series.
The story is mainly about battered ex-Marine Gage Huxton who we met at
the end of BODYGUARD DADDY and who was featured in BODYGUARD’S BABY SURPRISE
which was about his sister Annalise and best friend Nicholas Rus. However, like
so many of the other books in the series, Penny Payne sometimes steals the
story. :)
2. Is anything in your new release based on real life experiences or
purely all imagination?
Answer: My books are mostly imagination, but I
think my experience of growing up in a large family influences how I write the
familial relationships. Family is so important to the Paynes because it’s
important to me.
3. How much research goes into
your books?
Answer: I have a lot of fun with research. I’ve participated in two citizens’ police
academies in which I learned a lot. I also made contacts that have been great
about answering all my questions. I do a
lot of online research as well.
4. What cultural value do you see
in writing/reading/storytelling/etc?
Answer: I think we all need heroes in our lives
– real and fictional. I write heroes that value honesty and integrity and are
protective.
5. What was the hardest part of
writing this book?
Answer: This book was challenging because so
much of it takes place in a confined area – the wedding chapel – and during a
short time frame. I have so much respect for the writers of the Fox series
24. Not sure how they pulled that off
every week.
6. Where is one place you want to
visit that you haven't been before?
Answer: Ireland. I would love to explore the
beautiful countryside and the castles and soak up all the history.
7. What does your family think of
your writing?
Answer: My kids and husband brag about my being
an author. My siblings tease me.
8. What is the biggest
misconception about your genre?
Answer: I don’t think some people realize how
popular it is – that more romance novels are sold than any other kind of
fiction or nonfiction novels.
9. How do you decide on the cover
art for your books?
Answer: I give 3 scenes I’d like to see on the
cover. I usually pick scenes from the book where the characters are in the most
danger – physically and emotionally. The art and marketing department make the
final decision, though.
10. What
is your current summer read?
Answer: I’ve actually been
re-reading some classics. I just read Jane
Austin’s novella LADY SUSAN. And I’ve
started BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY’S.
