Audible Review: Blood Fury by J.R. Ward

Blood Fury is the third in J.R. Ward's Legacy series which for those readers living under a rock is a spin off of her unbelievably amazing Black Dagger Brotherhood series. These stories feature vampire civilians who the brotherhood are bringing in as fighters in their life or death struggles against the Lessening Society.
Enjoy!

    Black Dagger Legacy, Book 3

ADD TO: GOODREADS

Overview:
A vampire aristocrat, Peyton is well aware of his duty to his bloodline: mate with an appropriate female of his class and carry on his family’s traditions. And he thought he’d found his perfect match—until she fell in love with someone else. Yet when his split-second decision in a battle with the enemy endangers the life of another trainee, Peyton has to face the idea that his future, and his heart, actually lie with another.
Novo, as a female in the Black Dagger Brotherhood’s training program, feels like she has to prove herself to everybody—and she has no interest in being distracted by falling in love. But when Peyton proves to be so much more than a rich playboy, she is forced to confront the tragedy that has broken her soul and closed her off from love.
As the two grapple with Novo’s past and Peyton’s present, another couple must contend with an erotic connection that is unparalleled—and potentially scandalous. Saxton, who has had his heart broken, discovers in himself a deep-seated attraction to Ruhn, a new member of the household. But will the other male explore the connection? Or will he close his mind and his heart to what could be true love . . . and cost Saxton everything?

My Review

Blood Fury

Story 4
Ward’s spin off to her Black Dagger Brotherhood series is rolling right along and continues to combine a trainee romance mixed with a bonus story staring one of the Brothers or like in this side story the Kings solicitor and Blay’s former lover Saxon who fans of the BDB series know very well. Fans are also well acquainted with the stars of this novel, Novo and Payton and watching them work out the kinks in their love story is train-wreck worthy. I know some readers/reviewers are getting tired of this series but I still find them interesting and they are still keeping my rapt attention using her in your face, raw dialogue that showcases these near immortal creatures and their nocturnal lifestyle. The series is possible to read on its own in order but the side stories mean more to BDB fans.
NARRATION 5
As always Jim Frangione owns this series and these passionate paranormal characters and with his smoker’s roughened voice he’s the perfect choice for these intense creatures and even with his sexy deep voice he manages the male and female vocals really well and in fact gives listeners of this series an extra emotional element that readers don’t get. Bravo Jim for another pitch perfect performance!
SUMMARY:
Payton joined the Brotherhood’s civilian fight training so he would never feel the helplessness he did during the Lessening Society raids, the only thing that got him through those endless days were his phone calls to Paradise, no wonder he fell in love with her. But they won’t get a happy ending because she’s mated to another and he’s left alone, that is until a surly and vulnerable beauty begins staring in some very erotic daydreams.
Novo wants to believe that she joined the training program for the good of the species but she knows it was to remove herself from the dysfunctional drama of her family and the last thing she needs is to fall for an arrogant, full of himself aristocratic male whose also in love with someone else and she’s so not going to be any males second choice.
Meanwhile back at the King’s audience house the race’s solicitor Saxon has been unlucky at love and still pines for what he and Blay once had that is until he is totally blindsided by an unexpected and apparent mutual attraction to Rhage and Mary’s adopted daughter Bitty’s uncle Ruhn.
