Audible Review - Return to Virgin River by Robyn Carr narrated by Thérèse Plummer

Today on the blog I'm reviewing the #Audible edition of Return to Virgin River by Robyn Carr. I'm returning to Virgin River too as it's been quite a while since I immersed in Robyn's classic series and even though I missed a few titles in between I found myself right back in the thick of things with Jack and Mel and Preacher and all the rest and I got to fall in love with the stars of this book too.
Have you checked out the Netflix original series? I'm going to start watching very soon!
Sit back and Return to Virgin River with me.
Enjoy!

Overview:

Number one New York Times best-selling author Robyn Carr returns to the beloved town of Virgin River with a brand-new story about fresh starts and new friends.

Now a Netflix Original Series!

Kaylee Sloan’s home in Southern California is full of wonderful memories of the woman who raised her. But the memories are prolonging her grief over her mother’s recent death. A successful author, Kaylee hoped she could pour herself into her work. Instead she has terrible writer’s block and a looming deadline.

Determined to escape distractions and avoid the holiday season, Kaylee borrows a cabin in Virgin River. She knows the isolation will help her writing, and as she drives north through the mountains and the majestic redwoods, she immediately feels inspired. Until she arrives at a building that has just gone up in flames. Devastated, she heads to Jack’s Bar to plan her next steps. The local watering hole is the heart of the town, and once she crosses the threshold, she’s surprised to be embraced by people who are more than willing to help a friend - or a stranger - in need.

Kaylee’s world is expanding in ways she never dreamed possible. And when she rescues a kitten followed by a dog with a litter of puppies, she finds her heart opening up to the animals who need her. And then there’s the dog trainer who knows exactly how to help her. As the holidays approach, Kaylee’s dread turns to wonder. Because there’s no better place to spend Christmas than Virgin River.

My #Audible Review:

Return to Virgin River
Robyn Carr

Author Kaylee Sloan needs a quiet place to finish her manuscript that’s already behind schedule and a quiet place to spend the holidays to lick her wounds after her mom’s tragic passing from cancer last Christmas. So she rents the vacation home from family friends in Virgin River a small quaint hamlet in Northern California only to find when she arrives that it’s been badly damaged in a fire. Now homeless and at her wits end because she’s rented out her own home through the rest of the year she accepts the offer of a local artist to rent the extra home on his property. What she never expected was to have her life turn upside-down and not in a bad way thanks to a lost kitten, an abandoned dog and a handsome, caring landlord.

Landry Moore leads a quiet life in Virgin River creating his art and training dogs in his spare time. He’s been alone for a long time and doesn’t see his life changing anytime soon. Then out of necessity he rents the spare house on his property to an author who needs a safe place to land for a while. And finds himself transfixed by her and his life changing in ways he never thought possible.

Carr’s #21 in her Virgin River series comes with all the trappings readers/listeners expect in this series, past series character catch-ups, nosy yet not intrusive neighbors, a rural small town feeling and a new love story. Her new story between Landry and Kaylee is sweet with a bit of heat, Kaylee is very relatable easy to be sympathetic with and Landry is just like most of Robyn’s male stars almost too good to be true but the top of every woman’s wish list. The town all dressed up for holidays and in giving mode is touching and the townsfolk including Kaylee as one of their own is very moving and of course including animals and children in a read is always a win win! Fans of this series, this author holiday tales and other small town romances will enjoy this very much.

The narration by Thérèse Plummer is perfect she gets all the emotions high and low and great with both male and female characters too.

  3. I read this one and it was good, but not as good as the ones that came out before, but I do like an author as a character! I have read pretty much the whole series. Watched a little of the NFlix but really just prefer books!

  4. I've heard people talking about the Netflix series, but didn't realize it was based on books (though I'm not at all surprised, since Hollywood hasn't had an original thought in decades). Wonderful review.
