Happy Thanksgiving from my table to yours!

This has been a trying year, a year full of ups and downs but I still have much to be thankful for. We're back in our remodeled and much downsized (basement) home after the devastating flooding this spring not caused by anything in our area but torrential rains up stream on the Mississippi we got 4.5 feet in the basement and everything down there (40 years of marriage) was a total loss. But thankfully we found out how resilient we are.

Both Bill and I have had some medical setbacks this year, he's doing as well as can be expected with a degenerative disease like Parkinson's and I will be a bionic woman in just a few short weeks when I get a knee replacement. We are thankful that we have good health insurance and great doctors to take care of us and that our daughter will be moving in with us for a month to care for us both (her husband is still in denial).

There was a definite highlight of our year and to celebrate our 40th Anniversary and my 65th birthday. Our daughter and son-in-law took us to Destin in August to celebrate. It was the trip of a lifetime and we're thankful that we have such a loving caring daughter and a son-in-law who treats us like we're his parents.

As we round down the year I know that there will be more things to be thankful for. I know I'm very thankful for all of my blog visitors who make this blogging thing worthwhile. And as I sit down to Thanksgiving Dinner this year I will be sure to give thanks to all of the things I mentioned.

Enjoy your Black Friday sales then settle in because starting Monday 12-2 through Friday 12-20 is my 7th (can you believe it) annual Ho Ho Ho Harlequin Holiday Extravaganza, 11 authors tons of #giveaways and lots of holiday cheer.  One more thing to add to your holiday to do list!

Happy Thanksgiving All!!!

ABOUT THE BOOK:
#1 New York Times bestselling author J.R. Ward is heating things up this winter with a holiday novel featuring some of her most iconic Black Dagger Brothers.

When Trez lost his beloved to a tragic death (The Shadows, Black Dagger Brotherhood #13), his soul was crushed and his destiny seemed relegated to suffering. But when he meets a mysterious female, he becomes convinced his true love has been reincarnated. Is he right? Or has his grief created a disastrous delusion?

Therese has come to Caldwell to escape a rift with her bloodline. The revelation that she was adopted and not born into her family shakes the foundations of her identity, and she is determined to make it on her own. Her attraction to Trez is not what she’s looking for, except the sexy Shadow proves to be undeniable.

Has fate provided a grieving widower with a second chance...or is Trez too blinded by the past to see the present for what it really is? In this sensual, arresting book full of the themes of redemption and self-discovery, two lost souls find themselves at a crossroads where the heart is the only compass that can be trusted...but that may require a courage that neither of them possesses.

The surviving son of a germophobic mother, Cecil Reitmeister embraces all forms of bacteria and formulates an elaborate plan to lead humanity out of the Anthropocene and into a new era of interspecies harmony. His idiosyncratic plan requires years of experimentation and precise manipulation of his microbiome, the totality of microorganisms present in or on the human body. His mad-scientist mission leads to extreme social isolation, with the memory of his dead mother becoming his most frequent visitor. Cecil's quest to save the world comes to a screeching halt when his social worker and the police show up to condemn the only home he has ever known. Thrown in jail for assaulting the police, Cecil soon finds himself homeless and struggles to adjust to life on the streets. When he meets a group of Freegans (people who reject consumerism and seek to reduce waste by collecting discarded food) led by a magnetic red-headed woman, Cecil is forced to confront demons from his past and to reassess his self-imposed alienation, the rigidity of his worldview, and, ultimately, his plan to save humanity.
