Overview
A smashing, award-winning debut novel that introduces Charley Davidson: part-time private investigator and full-time Grim Reaper
Charley sees dead people. That’s right, she sees dead people. And it’s her job to convince them to “go into the light.” But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (i.e. murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice. Complicating matters are the intensely hot dreams she’s been having about an Entity who has been following her all her life...and it turns out he might not be dead after all. In fact, he might be something else entirely.
This is a thrilling debut novel from an exciting newcomer to the world of paranormal romantic suspense.
My Review
Yes I know I must be the last paranormal/urban fantasy fan left on the
planet who hasn’t enjoyed the Charley Davidson series by Darynda jones, well my
friends I’m happy to say I’ve joined the ranks of the I have reads!
Jones’ first in her Charley Davidson series is a fantastic mix of
paranormal urban fantasy and suspense. This super storyteller spins her tale
with a narrative that’s a masterful meld of laugh out loud humor and intense
drama. Her protagonist Charley is a
complex combo of funny, witty and compassionate and readers get her history
through the stories she tells, her co-stars both corporeal and phantasms are
all wonderfully rendered. And the punch in the gut ending will have fans
salivating for book 2.
Charlotte (Charley) Davidson is a part time PI and part time
bartender, just your garden-variety girl. Oh and she sees dead people because
yep she’s also the Grim Reaper, a fact that helps when she assists her cop
uncle in solving murders because the victims usually show up on her doorstep
conveniently providing clues to their murders. Right now she’s got a trio of
murdered lawyers who want their case solved, then she needs to send them off
into the light. If that’s not enough she’s also had a disturbing/desirable
spectral visitor who’s giving her phantasmic pleasurable dreams.
