Review The President is Missing by Bill Clinton and James Patterson

I'm not usually a Patterson fan but I have to admit that when I heard a former US President was writing a Political Thriller I was intrigued and when I heard that Dennis Quaid was doing the majority of narrating I knew this was one I would happily shell out for. And Oh Boy what a ride it was.

My Review:

The President is Missing
Bill Clinton, James Patterson and David Ellis (Ghostwriter)

Story 5
What an exciting rollercoaster ride, non-stop action from the first sentence until the very end about a high stakes doomsday threat that would bring the US to her knees. Patterson and Clinton have combined talents and efforts to put together one of the timeliest, and best political thrillers ever!

POTUS is charismatic, passionate and compassionate and best of all he’s a Patriot in every sense of the word always putting the country’s needs before his own even at the cost of his life, he’s also a recent and still grieving widower who lost his compass and the love of his life. The cast of memorable costars are also utterly believable from the Secret Service men and women, the computer experts racing against the clock to the terrorists threatening the country.

The in your face dialogue enhances the readers appreciation of the desperation this man and his small army of experts are facing and the short chapters heightens the tensions and complexities of the plot. Plus the real time three-day timeline magnifies the impotent feelings of those pitted against the enemy.

For the most part the tale is non-partisan except for the speech at the end that could have easily been spoken by our former POTUS author but is very good. If these two have the thoughts to team up again or if Mr. Clinton ever decided to try fiction on his own I’d be game.

Narration 5
Dennis Quaid delivers an unforgettable, emotion filled performance as POTUS keeping listener’s hearts in their throats and stomachs queasy waiting for the other shoe to fall, by far one of the best renditions going. The narration of the other talents are all fantastic especially the voice of the classical music loving assassin.

When an imminent and insidious cyber attack against the US is discovered President Jonathan Duncan doesn’t hesitate to take action, actions that have put him in the midst of a political witch-hunt. But he can’t stop to worry about a congressional hearing he’s demanded to attend, or who’s on his side and who isn’t because if he doesn’t stop this attack America will literally return to the dark ages of technology. The messenger is a young Eastern European woman who says she knows how to stop the virus set to go off and affect every connected device and internet providers in the US. Can he trust her; he doesn’t know. Does he have a choice; he doesn’t think so. So with only his closest advisors kept in the loop, one of which he believes to be a traitor President Duncan literally goes off the grid with the clock running to find out whose behind the virus and put a stop to this attack that would turn the country he’s fought for, almost died for and sworn to protect with his very life into the largest third world country on the planet.
