Overview:
In this gritty and gripping new audiobook in the #1 New York Times bestselling series, Eve Dallas fights to save the innocent—and serve justice to the guilty—on the streets of New York.

Homicide cop Eve Dallas and her billionaire husband, Roarke, are building a brand-new school and youth shelter. They know that the hard life can lead kids toward dangerous crossroads—and with this new project, they hope to nudge a few more of them onto the right path. For expert help, they hire child psychologist Dr. Rochelle Pickering—whose own brother pulled himself out of a spiral of addiction and crime with Rochelle’s support.

Lyle is living with Rochelle while he gets his life together, and he’s thrilled to hear about his sister’s new job offer. But within hours, triumph is followed by tragedy. Returning from a celebratory dinner with her boyfriend, she finds Lyle dead with a syringe in his lap, and Eve’s investigation confirms that this wasn’t just another OD. After all his work to get clean, Lyle’s been pumped full of poison—and a neighbor with a peephole reports seeing a scruffy, pink-haired girl fleeing the scene.

Now Eve and Roarke must venture into the gang territory where Lyle used to run, and the ugly underground world of tattoo parlors and strip joints where everyone has taken a wrong turn somewhere. They both believe in giving people a second chance. Maybe even a third or fourth. But as far as they’re concerned, whoever gave the order on Lyle Pickering’s murder has run out of chances…

My Review:

Connections In Death
J.D. Robb

STORY 5:
#48 in Robb’s futuristic crime drama/romantic suspense series is another home run for this prolific author who’s star cop and her mega wealthy hubby are dealt a death that hits close to home. Robb’s star, Eve Dallas, continues her maturation beautifully as she competently deals with bad guys, coworkers, victims and witnesses, connecting all the crime solving dots while getting to use some really cool sci-fi gadgets weapons and future tools of the cop trade. Readers are also kept up-to-date with all the fan favorite series costars. Long time fans may be able to read this installation out-of-order but new readers should start from the beginning.

NARRATION 5:
This was my first experience listening to this series but Susan Ericksen is amazing and I’m shelling out the $$ for audios from now on. Her vocal range, male and female voices and emotional rendering give listeners way more than simply reading will do. The absolute best thing is how spot-on every voice she portrays is and with Peabody its even better.

SUMMARY:
It’s 2061 and Lieutenant Eve Dallas’ latest homicide case becomes very personal when the victim, Lyle Pickering, a recovering addict and former member of the notorious Banger gang is found dead in his home by what appears to be a self injected overdose. When the vic’s sister, a doctor she and her kazillionaire husband Roarke just hired to head up their new youth facility and her beau, Crack a club owner and Eve’s friend finds the body they call Eve to come and take a look because they don’t believe he started using agian. What Eve finds is a rather sloppy attempt at making this murder look like an OD, and when she, her team and Roarke start investigating not only does the body count rise but the finger points to Lyle’s former gang buddies.

  1. I always say the way to go with these books is Susan Eriksen, when I do read one, I hear her voice in my head now! This one is on my wish list to be listened to at some point this year. Looking forward to it.

  4. I am not really good at switching formats mid-series. I get voices in my head and the audio sounds strange, now I guess I could do the opposite. I love this series but fell off the rails in the tweens but cannot remember where!

  6. Best series! I can't do them on audio because I'd read WAY too many before starting audios and her voices don't match the voices for them in my head. lol
