Her dream job is becoming her worst nightmare.
Attorney Tempest Waters jumps at the chance to make a difference in the galaxy
by joining the president’s administration. But once inside the White House she
discovers the publicly personable politician is criminally corrupt and venal to
the core. Unfortunately, Tempest has seen too much to be allowed to resign.
When the menacing henchman Benjamin Bane begins dogging her every step she
fears she may be in serious trouble. With the excuse of checking on the
president’s planetary interests, she escapes to dune-covered, sand-blasted
Sajave—only to have Bane follow her.
Not all cyborgs are good guys. Some are stone-cold killers.
When Benjamin Bane undergoes the transformation to cyborg, he suffers a rare
complication—the loss of his emotions. He’s unable to feel more than shallow
sentiments. On the plus side, being dead inside makes his job as an enforcer
doing the president’s dirty work a lot easier. But then he encounters Tempest
Waters. Something about the unassuming, but efficient presidential aide catches
his eye. What begins as mild interest soon becomes an obsession as she
reawakens his dormant passions and sweeps him into a vortex of emotion.
But he can’t afford to feel anything. He’s been ordered to kill her.
Vortex (Cyborg Force 3) is an enemies-to-lovers science fiction romance
that will have you clinging to the edge of your seat. Get Vortex>, and
hang on. Your steamy, suspenseful, action-packed ride is about to begin.
Sophia Rose's Review:
Going from big
asset to major liability, attorney Tempest Waters, is in the crosshairs of the
President’s most competent enforcer, Benjamin Bane. Book two ended at an interesting place and
Vortex launched from there.
Vortex is book
three in the Cyborg Force series on a sandy alien world with the suspense
building with each connected book.
Tempest never
dreamt that when she went to work for the President she wouldn’t be working for
the good guys or that she would likely never break free. Her life depends on getting the Sajave
situation handled, but the complications come in the form of her big lethal
shadow and the extenuating circumstances going on with the planet. Bane says trust him and she finds herself
wanting to, but… yeah right!
Bane lost his
emotions when he was made cyborg and it served him well especially when he went
to work as the ambitious President’s enforcer.
But, inconveniently, the emotions return when one warmhearted lawyer
crosses his path. Tempest should have
never ended up working for the President and she doesn’t have the cold heart
for the job. The kill order will
come. And then what will he do about the
woman who has gotten under his cyborg skin?
The suspense was
there from the beginning and Vortex kept this up through the story and doubled
down on the excitement there at the end.
Tempest and Bane
were introduced in the previous book as were the circumstances of the sentient
alien sand of Sajave and the corporations that are set to ignore the scientific
reports for their own ends with the full power of the President backing
them. It is a powder keg and there
Tempest was saddled to ride it out and somehow find a win-win out of a big
lose-lose situation.
I had my suspicions
about Bane’s interest in Tempest and could only hope I was right about
him. She didn’t even trust or like him
when the attraction started to come for her.
Talk about good enemies to lovers’ material. I liked how the author set this pair up and
got their story from point A to point B.
Wow, the twist and
exciting moment were great. I didn’t see
that coming. When it finally went down,
the powder keg fuse was lit and the next book with Clint, the leader and a
surprising shades of gray heroine will see it igniting for the grand finale.
This is a long-novella
length, fast read just like the others in the series. There are spicy and exciting diverse romance
scenarios with each one while the over-arcing series story continues with good
sci-fi action. Sci-fi romance lovers
really need to give Cara Bristol’s hard action sexy cyborgs a go.

I quickly skimmed your review since I haven't read this one - but I did buy it. I've finished with the first two books.
ReplyDeleteI do that too when I still haven't read the book, but plan to soon. This pair are introduced in book two so you'll have fun seeing what comes of their situation. I am looking forward to book four now after the brief intro in this book.
DeleteI love it when a book has a few twists that are surprising. I do like the sound of this one.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Those twists were fun.
DeleteI love when a book offers twists and turns you don't see coming.
ReplyDeleteYes! Not being able to predict what is going to happen is so worth it. :)
