But instead, she is tasked with another assignment from the CIA: go to Rome and acquire a necromantic grimoire linked to a lost fire goddess.
As Jayne struggles to work with her new partner, a smug and infuriating magician who knows exactly how to push her buttons, she realizes this mission may reveal clues to her father's whereabouts. To make matters worse, the deadly terror organizations have caught wind of this powerful grimoire, and their dark magic has created all manner of terrifying new obstacles for Jayne to overcome.
The closer Jayne gets to finding her father, the more she uncovers about the secret society he was part of. When she realizes their enemies are closing in on these hunted magicians-and targeting her sister, too-she must expand her magical abilities, trust in her partner, and risk her life for the truth... or else the power of the fire goddess could wind up in the wrong hands.
My Review:
The Keeper of the Flames
Jayne Thorne CIA Librarian #3
Joss Walker
Joss Walker’s The Keeper of the Flames, book 3 in her
Jayne Thorne CIA Librarian series is a necromantic-non-stop magical
action-packed urban fantasy good vs evil thriller that will leave readers
breathless. Our star Jayne is still coming into her powers begrudgingly with
the help of her new partner and ex enemy Tristan and it’s a real treat watching
her grow into her powers and become more confident. Walker’s storyline is
unique in a genre that’s becoming a bit run of the mill and her in your face
edgy narrative really brings home the fierceness of the CIA operatives tireless
attempt to save the world to unsuspecting non-magical beings. She’s got a large
stable of fantastic costars including Jayne’s sister Sophia, her partner
Tristan, ex beau Cillian, her boss and the other operatives and the vile evil
enemy too. Fans of edge of your seat fantasy with strong women protagonists,
the novels of Jayne Ann Krentz, JR Ward and or Karen Marie Moning will find
this novel and this series (which need to be read in order) absolutely
unputdownable.
Jayne Thorne has a lot on her plate right now, she’s finally
accepting her role as a master magician, still getting over losing her wolf
shifter lover and rogue Cillian and dealing with the fact that he’s actually
her sister’s rogue. Then she’s trying to accept her new partner, Tristan, an
annoyingly egotistical former enemy whose mother is the leader of La Liberte a terrorist
group like The Kingdom run by Jayne’s evil mother who’s trying to eliminate
Jayne and the other CIA agents trying to save the world. Not only that but she
desperately wants to find her father who she thought was long dead. But that
will all have to wait because she and Tristan are tasked with locating a
grimoire linked to a fire Goddess before the baddies get to it.
Joss Walker is the fantasy pen name for New York Times bestselling thriller author J.T. Ellison, where she explores her love of the fantasy genre and extraordinary women discovering their power in the world....
R.L. Perez is a fantasy romance author, perfectionist, anxious Type A worrier, and proud Hufflepuff. She's been writing books since she was old enough to form sloppy, misspelled words and staple pieces of paper together.
It sounds like an interesting premise.
