Goodreads Synopsis:
When two witches with a tangled history are forced to team up, it spells disaster in this steamy rom-com from USA Today bestselling author Avery Flynn.
It’s the curse of every family’s heir to be the responsible one. My family being the most powerful family in all of Witchingdom doesn’t eliminate that fact, it only makes it worse—and that’s why I, Leona Amber Sherwood, never do the unexpected. Except for that one time I did.
Believe me, I have rued the day that I got married in a midnight ceremony under a full moon to Erik Svensen, the heir to my family’s deepest, bitterest enemies, and now, he won’t agree to a divorce unless we return an ancient spell book to his family’s secured facility.
But on our road trip to return the book, I learn more about Erik as we encounter trolls, nymphs, satyrs, and more. The longer we work together, the more I’m convinced that he might not be the evil trickster I assumed he was. Any more time together will leave me even more enchanted with my husband and that’s the last thing I want. And if I keep telling myself that, maybe I'll start to believe it.
Sophia Rose's Review:
The dutiful, responsible daughter of Witchingdom’s most powerful witch family ends up secretly Vegas-wedding’d to the scion of her family enemy. Avery Flynn’s second Sherwood Witches series installment has an enemies-to-lovers vibe blended with a fun and magical road trip adventure.
Avery Flynn can write romcom like nobody’s business and this transfers well in the paranormal genre. I had no trouble treating Head Witch in Charge like a standalone with loose connections to a previous book. I was laughing from the first page when poor Leona ended up buck naked on the floor with her sister’s rooster familiar perched on her cheeks.
Leona is the heir to the Sherwood family magic and will be the family matriarch in time so she treats life as a list of do’s and don’ts which means she dutifully trots off to her girls only weekend in Vegas before she follows her mother’s prodding into an arranged marriage to enhance the family social and magical power situation.
Erik Svenson is also the heir apparent to the family magic, but in his case, his villainous father has no intention of giving over the reins or the magic and plots to trick Erik into a power transfer. Erik’s way ahead of him. Erik is in Vegas ready to con the goody-two-shoes Sherwood heir into marriage and use her to thwart his dad and save his siblings and everyone else from the greedy man’s clutches. He’s not the hero and won’t lose sleep over it, he thinks.
A road trip together has this pair re-thinking a lot of things. LeLe is finally living a little and considering her own happiness for once and Erik is crushing under the guilt of using a woman he is coming to love more than even his schemes and plots.
Head Witch in Charge was fun, funny, sexy, and exciting, but it also had me turned around a few times with all sorts of supernatural people, situations, and plots zinging around. I was eager to get the wild-child Sherwood sister, Effie’s story next. High entertainment paranormal rom com as bold and bright as a Vegas hotel marquis that I can recommend.
Author Bio:
Avery Flynn is a USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling romance author. She has three slightly-wild children, loves a hockey-addicted husband and is desperately hoping someone invents the coffee IV drip.
She was a reader before she was a writer and hopes to always be both. She loves to write about smartass alpha heroes who are as good with a quip as they are with their *ahem* other God-given talents. Her heroines are feisty, fierce and fantastic. Brainy and brave, these ladies know how to stand on their own two feet and knock the bad guys off theirs.

Sophia’s Bio:
Sophia is a quiet though curious gal who dabbles in cooking, book reviewing, piano-playing, and gardening. Road trips and campouts, museums and monuments, restaurants and theaters are her jam. Encouraged and supported by an incredible man and loving family. A Northern Californian transplant to the Great Lakes Region of the US. Lover of Jane Austen, Baseball, Cats, Scooby Doo, and Chocolate.
As a lifelong reader, it was inevitable that Sophia would discover book blogs and the joy of blog reviewing. Sophia is a prolific reader and audiobook listener which allows her to experience so many wonderful books, authors, and narrators. Few genres are outside her reading tastes, but her true love is fiction particularly history, mystery, sci-fi, and romance. Though, sorry, no horror or she will run like Shaggy and Scooby.

I adore Avery. I've had the chance to meet her a couple times. But it's been ages since I've read her books. I need to find some time!
