Review Mobituary - Death of A Career Vaughn Meader

I don't know how many of you listen to podcasts, my daughter is a podcast junkie but I've just discovered them. One of my favorite CBS corespondents is Mo Rocca so when I learned he had a new podcast series called Mobituaries I thought I'd give the first one a go. It was really good.
Enjoy!

Listen to Mo on creating Mobituaries

My Review:

Mo Rocca
Mobituaries
The Death of a Career Vaughn Meader
52 minutes

Okay so I’m a Saturday morning kids tv junkie, one of my favorite shows is Mo Rocca’s Innovation Nation so when I heard he was doing a series of podcasts called Mobituaries I knew I needed to tune in.
The first podcast is about Abbott Vaughn Meader, US army veteran, comedian, musician and actor who was discovered by writer Bob Brooker when he heard his stand up portrayal of JFK and hired him to star in The First Family a satyr comedy album about JFK and his family. When it was released in 1962 it broke sales records, got an Emmy for best album of the year and made Meader an instant star. When the release of the second album coincides with Kennedy’s assassination the effects on Meader are devastating.

Mo takes his listeners into the psyche of the country at the time, he takes us into the CBS archives for a rare interview with Vaughn Meader, interviews the writer Bob Brooker and Vaughn's widow about the effects the albums and portraying JFK had on Vaughn’s life. if you’re a JFK junkie, a history buff or just can’t get enough of Mo Rocca like me this is a must listen to.

Mo spent four seasons as a correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. He created and hosted Cooking Channel’s My Grandmother’s Ravioli, in which he learned to cook from grandparents across America.
Mo began his career in TV as a writer and producer for the Emmy and Peabody Award–winning PBS children’s series Wishbone. Currently he hosts The Henry Ford’s Innovation Nation Saturday mornings on CBS.
On stage Mo starred on Broadway in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and as Doody in the Southeast Asian tour of the musical Grease.

  1. I think I've only ever listened to one podcast before but it was fun. I'll have to consider this one.

  5. I love a good podcast... but I listen to them before I fall asleep and often do just that. However I like quite a few of the book and quilting podcasts and hear quite a few! This one sounds interesting because while not a JFK junkie I do remember those times.

  6. I remember Mo Rocca from The Daily Show. I really liked him. Sounds like a fun podcast. I've listened to only two, political comedians, Larry Wilmore and W Kamau Bell.
