Overview:

All Scot and Bothered is the second audiobook in the stunning Devil You Know series by USA Today best-selling author Kerrigan Byrne!

They are a dangerous duke, a fierce lord, and an infamous earl - dark, bold, brave men who know exactly what they want. And there is only one woman who can bring them to their knees....

He is first and foremost - at everything. A man who’s made his own way through ruthless cunning and sheer force of will. A strong and imposing Scot who can turn on the charm but does not suffer fools. His title: Lord Chief Justice of the High Court. His name: Cassius Gerard Ramsay. His mission: to investigate the goings-on at London's most notorious gaming hell, owned and operated by one of the most intriguing and desirable women he’s ever met.

In this game of love, the rules do not apply.

Cecelia Teague was an orphan facing a rather dire future - until a secret benefactor from her mother’s scandalous past swept into her life. Sent to prestigious boarding school and later to university, Cecelia believed high society was at her fingertips....Then, from out of nowhere, she became the inheritor of a gambling establishment. Now, Cecelia must live two lives: one as a proper lady who finds herself undeniably drawn to Lord Ramsay and the other as a savvy gaming hell owner trying to save her business from the very same man. He has no idea she is both women...and Cecelia would like to keep it that way. But what happens when consuming passion and escalating danger threaten to reveal the truth?

My Macmillan Audio Review:

All Scot and Bothered
Devil You Know #2
Kerrigan Byrne

Book 2 in Kerrigan Byrne’s The Devil you Know trilogy, All Scot and Bothered is dark, dangerous and delightful staring seemingly star crossed lovers who once readers get to know them can see how they fit together nicely. There’s a good bit of a historical thriller mixed in with this captivating Victorian era romance and Kerrigan isn’t afraid to roll those RRRs with her big bad Scot and effectively get her hands bloodied and dirty to get the story told. The setting is as fans should expect, over the top grand as only the Ton can do it accompanied by period perfect dress and narrative. Cecilia and Ramsey are brilliant and fans will get some character catch up with the Duke and Duchess from book 1 and a hint of what to expect in book 3. Although this reads well alone like all series is best read in order.

The narration by Derick Perkins is spot on and done to British perfection. He’s great with female and male voices and the voice of the little girl Phoebe but his piece de resistance is by far Ramsey, he rolls those deep baritone RRRs with perfection.

Cecelia Teague was fortunate to be saved by an unknown rescuer from the hands of her cruel father was then educated and even though she was not a part of the Ton she sat on the sidelines because of the two women who were closer than sisters to her. Then out of the blue she inherits a rather nefarious establishment one that the brother in law of her dear friend the Duchess wants to tear down. Which is how she finds herself hiding her identity when an angry Scot comes beating on the door.

Cassius Gerard Ramsey came from nothing but he’s lived his life above reproach and has earned his lofty title of Lord Chief Justice honorably. He’s also distrustful of women with good cause but when he meets his sister in law’s friend the lovely Miss Teague he has to admit he’s a bit smitten. Then he finds out she’s recently come to own the notorious gaming hell he’s been trying to shut down for years and is caught between wanting to arrest her and undress her. First things though he needs to get to the bottom of what really goes on behind closed doors of Miss Teague’s new enterprise and does it have anything to do with young girls that have gone missing in London.

About the author:
Kerrigan Byrne lives with her husband on the coast of Washington State’s Olympic Peninsula in a Victorian-era town almost frozen in time. When she's not writing, you might find her on the beach with her dogs, lounging at a local vineyard or brewery, or buying things she doesn't need at antique stores. Her novels with St. Martin's Press include the Victorian Rebels series (starting with The Highwayman) and Devil You Know series (which begins with How To Love A Duke in Ten Days).
