What happens when 10 dog-loving romance authors get together and brainstorm? Why, books with rescue dogs, sexy heroes, dirty talking, and lots of dog treats, of course.

Teaser from Doggie on her Doorstep

Emily Janssen stood at the bottom of her driveway and stared at her front step. Even from fifty feet away, she could see that the black and-brown lump blocking her front door was a dog.

A big dog.

A big, hairy dog.

She wasn’t afraid of dogs, though she always took care when approaching one she didn’t know. That was just responsible. She was just… confused. Why on earth would a dog choose her front step? There was nothing to entice a pup to her townhouse. No other dogs—or cats, for that matter—or treats or toys or kids looking to play.

More was the pity, but who had time for all that, anyway?

The dog finally noticed her, sat up, and let out a deep woof accompanied by a swooshy, waggy tail.

She sighed, but couldn’t help but be charmed.

“Well, hello to you too,” she said starting up the driveway. “And who might you be? Aren’t you pretty?”

The swishy tail swished faster as the dog stood, and its back end started to wiggle. She recognized the breed easily. Bernese Mountain Dogs were lovely, but large. If this guy decided to jump up to say hello, she’d find herself on her butt. – Excerpt from Doggie on Her Doorstep by Donna Alward

My Review of Rescued

Rescued

Being a rescue mommy myself to my beautiful 12 year old Princess Pippa I knew I had to participate in this fabulous blog hop. Read on the see what I thought of these 10 short stories staring couples deserving of love and the rescue pups who had a paw or four in making their HEAs come true.

Doggy on her Doorstep
Donna Alward

The first stop takes readers to Donna Alward’s bucolic Darling VT and introduces them to big-hearted restaurant manager Emily Janssen and traumatized political analyst Ben Stone and Rex the big goofy loveable dog who makes it possible for them to have an HEA. Readers get a heartwarming story about love and healing staring two absolutely unforgettable humans and their equally unforgettable pooch, plus they get to catch up with many beloved series characters.

Who’s a Good Boy
Lexxie Couper

In book two, Who’s a Good Boy, Lexxie Couper takes readers to Sydney where it’s love at first sight when dog trainer Chelsea Parker literally knocks promising politician Tim Holt off his feet. Now this single dad has to do something to meet her again so it’s Wilbur the three-legged stray to the rescue. This fast-paced feel good and totally unputdownable read stars a seemingly ill-fitted couple who couldn’t be more right for each other and features Ellie, Tim’s darling daughter and Chelsea’s dog Gary and the star, Wilbur. The story also features characters from, Hot Aussie Night, book two in Lexxie’s De Luca Sisters series.

Hot Assets
Cynthia D’Alba

In the third story D’Alba takes readers to Dallas where Andi Carmichael agrees to take care of her elderly neighbor’s dog after a fall and simultaneously runs into her never forgotten and only one-night stand all grown up and still unforgettable. Dallas cop Zack Noles never forgot his hook-up with the beautiful Andi and never thought he’d finally find her again via a mutual neighbor. One thing he does know is that he’s never letting her go again. An unforgettable couple, a steamy second chance romance and an exciting mystery await readers in this story.

Rescuing Orion
Mandy Harbin

Mandy Harbin’s rescue story stars Katie Dean and Zeke Ramon, two FBI agents who when working together in the past had the hots for each other and neither one knew it. Now they’re working together again dealing with lustful feelings and pretending to be a couple looking to adopt a rescue dog so they can investigate a local shelter that has connections to a Mexican Drug Cartel. Once they solve the case then maybe they’ll finally deal with their emotions too.
The heat between Katie and Zeke burn the pages and the element of real danger keeps readers on their toes and of course their senior rescue doggy Orion steals the show.

Nobody’s Hero
Laura Trentham

Maggie Mize has three secrets, she writes romances, she’s a 30 year-old virgin and she’s got the hots for a sexy ex-con who she fantasizes about. Clayton Preston made some bad choices but moving to Cottonbloom wasn’t one of them, he’s got a good job, surrounded by family and friends plus there’s this sexy lady who’s eyeing him like he’s candy. Trentham takes readers to her iconic Cottonbloom Mississippi and tells the obstacle strewn, heartwarming love story of Maggie born into wealth and respectability and Clayton from the wrong side of the tracks plus their little stray Leroy. It’s funny and poignant and will appeal to a wide range of romance lovers.

Dogs on a Plane
Shana Gray

Socialite Rebecca Gardner agreed to rehome five shelter dogs after their Manitoba shelter burns down, however when she arrives there’s eleven dogs waiting. She just hopes the bush pilot she hires is a softy. When Barrett Kingston saw the ill-dressed, ill-prepared woman careening toward him with eleven, not five dogs he just shakes his head and wonders what other surprises are in store. When they get grounded by a blizzard in his remote cabin they have more than the dogs to deal with, they have this strong attraction too. Shana Gray’s warmhearted story is full of sizzle and snouts and will appeal to any romance/dog lover.

Last Love
Melissa Schroeder

Mason and Olivia, two lonely people share an unforgettable one-night stand in Vegas, unfortunately three months later what happened in Vegas ended up in Juniper Springs Texas. Melissa Schroeder’s offering is ultimately set in the world of her Juniper Springs series where the LOLs (little old ladies) don’t have a thing to do with this love story but a rescue Golden named Houdini and two fatherless children definitely do. This sensual story will heat up the pages and reader’s hearts too.

The Guy Next Door
Jenna Bayley-Burke

Jenna Bayley-Burke’s The Guy Next Door, the next rescue romance is a barrel of laughs staring Lucky, the misbehaving, matchmaking rescue, his nanny Toby and their people Bryan and Amy. The couple are a hoot, funny, vulnerable and best of all kind and very deserving of an HEA.
When Bryan moved into his new home he didn’t expect his badly behaved dog Lucky to break the ice with his beautiful neighbor or break the fence between their yards, but he did. Amy always used humor to hide her very visible disability but when she gets to know her new, too good to be true, hotter than Adonis neighbor with the bad dog, he makes her feel normal and beautiful and that scares her.

Romancing the Grumpy Rancher
Tamlyn Black

Tamlyn Black’s story is a sexy and at times laugh out loud romance between a seemingly unsuited couple who turn out to be really right for each other and co-staring a couple of unforgettable canines as well.
When their parents died tragically 19 year-old Matthew Thomas quit being a rule-breaker to be a rule maker so he could finish raising his two younger siblings. Now that they’re grown he still has a hard time with change and when his sister Olivia and her socialite flighty friend from college want to turn part of the ranch into a fancy resort that says change with a big C. When Savannah Clarke agreed to this project with Olivia she didn’t realize she’d have to contend with her grumpy, sexy older brother at every turn.

For the Love of Ivy
Cindy Kirk

Last but never least Cindy Kirk’s story is all about unfulfilled dreams, promises and new beginnings. Her stars Lauren and Seth are very likeable and totally believable and they plus a cast full of genuine costars plus one little adorable girl and one rescued dog will give readers an unforgettable warm fuzzy feeling kind of story.
When Lauren Van Meveren came to Sweet River to work on her dissertation she didn’t expect to find love or when she did there’d be a catch. When Montana rancher Seth Anderssen promised his dying wife not to remarry until their daughter finished school he didn’t know a certain academic would come to town and turn his world upside down.
