Overview:

It’s just supposed to be business in New York Times bestselling author Christine Rimmer’s lastest romance!

They’re about to go their separate ways come the New Year…

Neither Harper Bravo nor Lincoln Stryker are planning to stay in Valentine Bay. She’s got big-city career plans, and he’s trying to figure out how to balance work and caring for his orphaned niece and nephew. But when Lincoln moves in next door and needs a hand, a cash-strapped Harper can’t help but step in. They make a deal: just during the holiday season, she’ll nanny the kids while he works, and then they’ll each leave town. But when they can’t deny the spark between them, will love be enough to have them both changing their plans?

My Review:

A Temporary Christmas Arrangement
Christine Rimmer

Ah it’s not Christmas without the Bravos and Christine Rimmer’s latest Bravo’s of Valentine’s Bay is poignant and hopeful with just enough dysfunction and relationship angst thrown in to make things interesting plus a holy cow shocker of an ending. Christine always keeps it real in her characters, her scenes and her obstacles to overcome and, A Temporary Christmas Arrangement, has all of the above  amazing chemistry between Linc and Harper, fantastic secondary characters including Linc’s warring parents and his angry ex and the cutest kids on earth who will warm reader’s hearts. Fans of this master storyteller and of contemporary romance will love this holiday gem.

Lincoln Stryker has one goal for this Christmas. Make it as special as can be for his young niece and nephew, now his wards who are spending the first Christmas without their parents. So the first thing on the list is heading to Valentine Bay and the family cottage where the kids spent last Christmas with their mom and dad. Linc may have bitten off more than he can chew so when the pretty neighbor in the next cottage offers to help he says yes knowing that having her near will save his sanity helping with the kids and maybe light his lonely life.

Come New Years Harper Bravo is heading to Seattle, new town, new career, new start. Yes she loves living near her big boisterous family but now she needs to focus on her. So she’s really looking forward to one last Christmas at home with family and friends including a handsome man and his two young charges in the next cottage who is clueless when it comes to dealing with kids and who’s making her pulse race.

Christine's Christmas Post

Hi everyone!  It’s so great to visit you again here on The Reading Frenzy Blog’s Ho-Ho-Ho Holiday Extravaganza featuring Harlequin authors and their holiday stories. I write for Harlequin’s Special Edition line.  At Special Edition, we’re all about family connections and the rich traditions that bind us. That’s why every year when I visit you all here, I like to share one of my own personal family traditions. This year, I want to talk about one of my most anticipated Christmas indulgences.
For me, Christmas is the one time of year when I allow myself to splurge on a pound-size box of my favorite candy in the whole, wide world—See’s.  Every year, shortly after Thanksgiving, I head for the Clackamas Town Center Mall where I visit the See’s store and indulge myself in 16 delicious ounces of mixed dark chocolates.

Oh, my!  Soooo good.  I love See’s.  I love their stores, all white with a homey black-and-white floor.   To me, See’s candy is the ultimate holiday treat.  When I lived in Oklahoma, you could only get See’s at mall stands during the holidays.  But here in Oregon, we have a whole store full of See’s year-round at our mall, complete with friendly clerks in white aprons and that famous checkerboard floor.  At See’s, you always get a free sample.  Last time I visited, I got dark chocolate raspberry cream.  Happy Holidays, indeed!
I love the See’s box, with that sweet picture of Mary See on it.  Doesn’t she just look like everyone’s perfect grandma?  Not to mention one brilliant candy maker.
I’ve been eating See’s candy since early childhood.  I was born and raised in California and See’s is a California company founded in Los Angeles in 1921.  When I was little and holiday bells were ringing, you can bet that one of my grandmas or a generous uncle would always show up with a big box of See’s to share.   I loved the mystery of choosing a chocolate from the box.  I mean, you never really knew for sure what you were getting until you bit into it.  I liked nutty chews and cream-filled the best.  Not a big fan of fruit centers.  But I was taught that once you touched it, you ate it.  So I would dutifully eat even the ones with the maraschino cherries in the center.  And hope for better luck next time the candy box came my way.
Do you have a favorite See’s candy?  Or if not See’s, what’s your favorite holiday treat?  Whatever sweet temptation makes you smile, happy Hanukkah, a richly non-commercial Festivus, a joyous Kwanzaa, a very merry Christmas and a productive and prosperous New Year to all!
