Valerie, Welcome to my blog.
Thank you so much for having me, Deb!

Tell us about your newest release Secrets of a Runaway Bride.
Secrets of a Runaway Brides is a Regency-set historical romance novel. It’s the story of Annie Andrews. I call it a Regency retelling of “He’s Just Not That Into You.” Here’s the back cover blurb, which I think is just so fun!
Miss Annie Andrews is finally free to marry the man she loves. With her overprotective sister out of the country on her honeymoon, nothing can prevent her flight to Gretna Greene–nothing, that is, but an abduction by the wrong gentleman.
When Jordan Holloway, the Earl of Ashbourne, promised to look after his best friend’s sister-in-law, he didn’t realize she would prove so difficult. But when he spirits her away to his country house to prevent her elopement, he discovers that the tempting beauty knows how to put up a fight. To make matters worse, he’s stuck playing the role of honorable protector…when what he really wants is to run away with her himself.
This is a part of a Secret Brides series.
Is there a set number in this series?
Yes, this is the 2nd full-length novel in my Secret Brides historical romance series. The first book is Secrets of a Wedding Night and the third (which comes out October 1, 2013) is Secrets of a Scandalous Marriage. There are also two related novellas and I just began work on a related Christmas novella that will be published at the end of the year! So, altogether there will be 6 books in the series.

In your bio it states that you’re a member of The Beau Monde, Regency special interest chapter of the Romance Writers of America.
Can you tell us about the special group?
The Beau Monde is a chapter of RWA that caters to the needs of Regency historical romance authors. It’s a fantastic resource for research, historical questions, and keeping up-to-date with the latest Regency novels. Every year at the national RWA conference, the Beau Monde hosts a Regency soiree where many of the members dress up in Regency-period clothing, perform Regency-era dances, and play Regency card games. It’s an absolute ball! (literally, ha!)

This is your third published novel and already you’re getting wonderful editorial reviews.
How important is that to you?
I’ve been so lucky to have such wonderful reviews including a TOP PICK! from RT Book Reviews for Secrets of a Runaway Bride! Great reviews are like icing on the cake for me. I write to hopefully help people escape for a few hours from the bad, unhappy, or stressful things that can sometimes happen in life and if the reviews help me access more readers to share some fun with them, I’m thrilled!

What about historical romance is most appealing to you as a writer?
As a reader?
I adore historical romance because it’s just such a complete escape. It’s another time, another place, another world. I can completely forget about everything else when I’m in that world. It’s why I love writing it and why I love reading it.

Now tell us about your “fame” as a reality TV show star.
Ha! My 15 minutes are up now I think but I recently filmed an episode for Say Yes to the Dress, Atlanta. It’s a reality TV show that airs on the TLC channel where brides pick out their wedding dresses on TV. I am getting married this year and a friend suggested I apply to the show. I did and amazingly, the producers called me! It was such a fun experience and so interesting to see how a show like that is filmed.

How important is connecting with fellow writers to you?
Connecting with other writers is so, so important to me. Not only am I member of the Romance Writers of America, but I spend a lot of time on Facebook and Twitter connecting with other writers, cheering them on, answering questions, and generally keeping in touch. Social media is great for that. It’s also a fantastic way to connect with readers.

You are the youngest of seven girls. (Wow!)
Tell us how it was to grow up the youngest in such a large family?
That’s right. I’m the youngest of 7, all girls. I don’t know any different so it was completely normal to me. I was often teased by my sisters for being ‘the baby,’ but I have to admit, I bet it’s better to be the baby than the oldest. My oldest sister had to change a lot of diapers. : ) My dad did have to install an extra hot water heater so we could all take showers in the morning.

You keep really busy, writing, staring in reality TV shows, connecting with your author buddies, playing with your dogs and getting ready for your wedding this fall (Congratulations!!).
What is the one thing on your vacation/recreation list that you haven’t done yet but want to?
Oh, so many things! I love to travel and don’t get to do it as often as I used to. I have a big birthday coming up next year and I plan to go to the Italian Riviera! I cannot wait.

If fans want to connect with you personally will there be any signings or events planned?
Yes! I love to meet with fans and I have several signings planned this year. Here’s a list. If anyone reading this lives nearby, I hope you’ll come out and say hello!
